Meet Bella, the newest addition to our home! Jason came home with her yesterday as a surprise for me – and I fell in love! We had been talking lately about whether or not to get a kitten (something I’ve really, really wanted since my cat died about 1.5 years ago) but I’m glad I have her now.

Like most kittens, she’s very playful but surprisingly also very calm. We had a fire outside last night and she stayed in my arms for at least a good hour… just relaxing and purring away. And she slept through her first night with us no problems at all.

So now we have: a dog, a cat, a pig and two chickens. If you ask me, that’s a lot! But I think Jason might have gotten me this kitten as a way to convince me to allow him to get some more animals! He’s already talking about turkeys, more pigs, a cow and yes, a donkey.

I love orchids

I received an orchid for Valentine’s Day and I absolutely love it! I used to have a purple one, but with the move and drywall dust, it didn’t make it. But I am determined to give this one a fair chance because it’s just too beautiful.

Marathon

It looks like I’ll be spending my birthday up in Marathon again this year! We’re going to go visit Jason’s mom and go camping for the long weekend in May. I’m pretty excited about it :)

This photo is one of my favourites. It was taken last year when we went up to Marathon. Jason and Ian spent most of their time pulling wood out of the pits with the four-wheeler to keep the fire going. It was very cold last year – it even hailed and snowed while we were there!

The Photography Institute – Diploma Program

My career as a University Business Student is quickly coming to an end. Finding a full-time job is proving to be challenging, especially when you put geographical limitations on your search. More than anything, I do not want a “desk job”. I want a challenging and rewarding career (who doesn’t?) and although the Business sector is quite broad, I’m scared I’m going to end up in a job I hate.

So, while I should be searching for job fairs and business opportunities, I have been browsing online photography programs. And I have found one that I really, really want to do! I have tried denying my love for photography, but it keeps nagging at me. The frustrating part of it is that I want updated equipment but it’s just not financially possible right now. Neither is taking a 24-week photography program. But I wanted to share this site with you, in case you are interested and are in a position to take this course because to me, it seems awesome. And upon successful completion, you receive a Diploma of Professional Photography issued by the Photography Institute. Check it out!

This photo makes me think of the character Lucy in Narnia. I love her cute little coat and curious expression! Definitely reminded me of the Narnia series.

I used the Seventies action on this photo – I think it made a pretty neat affect. The action is part of Pioneer Woman’s new Action Set 2 – available for free on her website.

Etsy Nerd

I love browsing through Etsy. There are so many “different” types of homemade goodies that you cannot find in stores. A recent favourite:

Wouldn’t it be the cutest thing to have in a little girl’s bedroom or in a laundry room? I think so.

Called wall decals, they can add a little something extra to a room and require very little effort. They’re not expensive, the dandelion decal is $18. I’ve come across all kinds of animals, army soldiers, and flowers. There are lots of options for any room you might consider them for… check it out!

Purse Hook

I was at Chapters the other day and came across the Purse Hook. I absolutely love it!

There are some really cute designs and it’s a great solution for when you’re out and DO NOT want to put your purse on the floor, under the table where it is subject to so many germs and where it is out of sight and unsafe. I tried it out and it works really well! The heavier your purse is the better it holds, which I think works to the benefit of most women. They sell for approx. $12 retail or you can buy them from www.etsy.com - makes a great stocking stuffer!
